Borgo Contract Seating, a leader in fixed seating, announces that November 2014, will mark the company’s 30th anniversary of its founding. Alessandro Spassiani, founder and president, said, “30 years seems like a long time, 1984 seems like only yesterday.”
THREE GUYS. ONE VILLAGE. ONE PASSION FOR FORWARD THINKING FURNITURE In 1984, three men came together to share their vision for reliable, forward-thinking furniture that was well designed and well built. They weren’t a company or a consortium. They were simply three men that shared the same passion for perfection and happened to be born in the same village in Italy.
Over the years their continuous personal commitment and attention to detail has become the driving force behind the Borgo culture and has created the environment that has allowed them to deliver a long lineage of innovative and reliable seating solutions.
It is this personal commitment that the name, Borgo (Italian for Village), is derived. After all, this drive for true perfection can only result from the personal commitment of everyone at Borgo. And that commitment can only start in one place, at home.
DESIGNED TO INSPIRE New ideas, materials, challenges and solutions are the inspiration for a new direction in seating design. Staying true to its roots Borgo continually finds inspiration in Italian Design, merging it with Canadian Ingenuity. This innovative thinking and with a fully integrated design cycle generate a constant stream of new product ideas that are refined by decades of experience in functionality and production feasibility. The result: seating that inspires while at the same time providing flawless functionality and practicality. Spassiani, has said, “Our success is based on the principal that we sell solutions, and furniture just so happens to be the medium we offer them in.”
BUILT TO LAST Of course, a chair is only great if it’s built right. At Borgo we understand this and to show our belief in this singular fact, we had achieved ISO 9001 certification. But For us, this is only the tip of the iceberg. This past summer Borgo has purchased the largest state of the art textile-cutting machine of its kind in North America to ensure every order starts off right. Our commitment runs much deeper. Everyday and at each stage of production everyone at Borgo is focused on ensuring that every chair we send out not only meets our high level of standards but surpasses them.
RIGHT NOW AND RIGHT INTO THE FUTURE No one lives in a vacuum. Everything we do, every action we take has an impact on the world around us. And although we, as designers and creators, strive to leave a legacy of unique and inspiring seating, we also make a concerted effort to save precious natural resources. Borgo is AmeriGreen Strategies certified, all our furniture utilizes the latest in ecological friendly, non-toxic, flame retardant, and recyclable materials. “If it wasn’t for our employees, and our customers who continually support us, we never would have made it this far.” 30 Years later Borgo is a family run company, 2 generations deep and shows no sign of slowing down.
